Background

Veena Stores is an iconic self-serve restaurant of Malleshwarm in Bengaluru. It has been a favorite food joint for foodies in this locality for many years. The restaurant is famous for south Indian dishes and people throng to this outlet during weekends. Recently Veena Stores refurbished the ambiance to help customers with a better ambiance and the restaurant management had to quickly address the cash-counter queue management more effectively during peak hours as the turnaround time to get your plate of dishes was annoying for many customers.

The Challenge

Prior to installing Aido Self Serve Kiosks at the restaurant Pradeep Hegde, the proprietor of Veena Stores had the biggest challenge of managing the serpentine queue at the cash counter. The peak hour crowd management was the biggest challenge and the customer waiting time was unnecessarily prolonged. Also, the staff at the cash counter was unnecessarily burdened with mounting pressure to place orders swiftly.

The Self Serve kiosks helped to decongest the cash counter and the customers are happy to pay using QR code-based UPI digital payment without hassles have widely accepted this initiative. With this only customers who are ordering through the cash stand in the cash counter and remaining customers are effectively utilizing the self-serve kiosks to place orders.

Here are the simple operational steps of Aidio Self Serve Kiosks

  1. The Self-Serve Kiosk displays the Menu items
  2. Customers have to select an item of their choice using the interactive display screen
  3. On successful selection of the item, the total cost of the items booked is displayed
  4. Customers have to use QR-Code based UPI app in their mobile phones and make the payment
  5. On successful payment, thermal printer prints the receipt
  6. Submit the receipt/token at the food counter and collect the food

The Key Pain-Points Addressed

As Veena Stores serves ready-made food items like Idly, Vade, Upama, and Rice items ( No Dosa/Roti) the queue management at the food counter have not been an issue all throughout its operation. The delay has been always at the cash counter while placing the order. With the installation of Self Serve Kiosks, the cash counter is now decongested the customers are split into three parallel counters and both the staff and customers are happy.
